HOW IT WORKS
Skin Needling penetrates the top layer of skin with micro-needles that create pin-point injuries in the deeper layers. This then triggers the body’s natural wound healing response, stimulating new collagen and elastin formation, normalises cellular functions, and strengthens the skin.

Dermapen 4 is a medical device that performs our skin needling treatments. 
The advantages of the Dermapen 4 micro-needling treatment is the electric needle tip that is at such a high speed that it creates 1920 micro channels in the skin per second, resulting in advanced collagen and elastin stimulation.
Post treatment a zinc + peptide mask is applied to cool the skin, followed by vitamin rich repair balm and TR PRO+

RESULTS
Results are seen after one treatment; and visible after 6 weeks and continue up to 6 months. Regular treatment will help maintain the results. 

FOLLOW UP AND NEXT TREATMENT

To achieve the best results, an initial course of 3-6 treatments is recommended before starting maintenance treatments. 
Your next treatment is due within 6 weeks.

DISCOMFORT ●○○○○
DOWNTIME is minimal, some experience people may have 12-24 hours of mild redness and may experience tightness, sensitivity, and mild swelling.

 

SKIN NEEDLING TREATMENT PREPARATION 
Prep your skin two weeks prior to treatment with an approved vitamin A serum for best results

  • Avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure for two weeks prior.

  • Cease blood thinners, anti-inflammatory medications, omega 3-oils or fish oils, multivitamins, vitamin B, vitamin E and glucosamine for one week prior to minimise the risk of bruising.

  • Men are to be clean shaven prior to treatment if they want full face treatment or we can customise the treatment to avoid the beard area.

Advise your dermal therapist if you:

  • Sun exposure, sun tanning beds, laser treatments for 2 weeks prior

  • Prescription retinoids, exfoliants, and topical antibiotics for at least 5-7 days as these may increase the sensitivity of your skin

  • Injectables 2 weeks prior to treatment

  • Topical antibiotics for acne 2 weeks prior

  • Anti-inflammatory medications such as they can interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical for skin rejuvenation

  • Waxing, hair removal creams, electrolysis 1 week prior

  •  Ensure to shave at 1-2 days prior to treatment as shaving on the day will cause skin irritation

  • EFA’s, fish oils & blood-thinning agents (aspirin, ibuprofen, ginkgo biloba and alcohol) can cause bruising and excess bleeding

  • Roaccutane for 12 months prior

  • If you are prone to cold sores, please take antivirals for the 3 days leading up to treatment and the day of treatment and 2 days after *any active cold sores are a contraindication.


TREATMENT POST CARE
AVOID SUN EXPOSURE post micro-needling the channels created remain open up-to 24 hours post treatment, it is important to follow the post care instructions to avoid skin damage or adverse reactions. During the healing process you can experience mild itching, some flaking, and redness. 

  • Do not pick, squeeze or agitate the skin during the recovery period. 

  • Please avoid the following for activities for 2 day (48HRS) following dermapen clinical procedure:

-       Direct UV exposure (sun exposure or solarium) 

-       Intense cardio, exercise or other of similarity 

-       Excessively hot showers, baths, spas, or sauna

-       Spray tan or self-tanning 

-       Swimming in chlorinated pools or the ocean 

Please avoid the following activates for 2 weeks following dermapen clinical procedure:

  • Further clinical treatments including but not limited to: Micro/hydrodermabrasion, Laser, IPL, High strength clinical peels, Botox/Filler/other injectable procedures.

  • Tattoo including cosmetic tattooing. 

COMMON Q&A’s

  • Numbing cream is discouraged as it acts as a vasoconstrictor. Vasoconstriction slows down the natural inflammatory response that is beneficial for new collagen fibres. Dermapen 4 is the fastest skin pen available, creating 1920 micro channels per second its technology includes 120 oscillations (wave like vibrations) per second which confuses pain receptors.

  • Downtime varies between individuals, but generally the skin can remain pink and a bit sensitive for 1 – 2 days post treatment. We recommend avoidingintense activities and the use of active ingredients for 5 days post skin needling.

  • Please arrive to your appointment with minimal makeup on, avoid any active serums, avoid direct sun exposure, and don’t sit in a hot car waiting until your treatment time.

  • The skin is rejuvenated and will show noticeable improvements after 1 treatment, (think of when a wound heals, new tissue is visible). As collagen production is a lengthy process, full results can be seen up to 6 months after a treatment.
